Dexter Junior Fellowship Program
Eligibility
- CFA Level 2; &
- 12+ months experience in:
- Private Equity / Venture Capital
- Front-End Investment Banking
- Back or Middle Office roles in a bulge bracket investment banking firms supporting their front-end IB team
- Investment Banking KPO
- Financial Due Diligence in Big 4
- Commercial Due Diligence in top tier Consulting Firm (MBB, Alvarez & Marsal, AT Kearney, Praxis Global, etc.)
- Credit Rating agency
- Equity Research
- Candidates not eligible for the Senior Fellowship Program due to education or experience, or those unable to meet the cut-off percentile for the Senior Fellowship Program, but demonstrating keen interest and a hunger for business, finance, entrepreneurship, and/or investment toward investment banking.
Program Duration
12 months total, with Junior Fellowship for the first 6 months. After successful completion, candidates may upgrade to the Senior Fellowship.
Compensation
₹55,000 during the Junior Fellowship and ₹65,000 once upgraded to Senior Fellowship.
Intake
2 candidates per quarter.
What You Can Expect
- Front-end role – Direct interaction with startup founders from Day 1
- Exposure to the full deal cycle – From the first founder call to the final closing of the deal.
- Understanding Dexter’s unique startup evaluation thesis.
What You Will Work On
- Deal Evaluation: Engage with startup founders to evaluate potential deals.
- Assist the deal lead through the entire process, including participation in Dexter-Investor and Company-Investor calls.
- Prepare collateral such as financial models, IMs, teasers, competitive benchmarking, and valuation comps.
- Coordinate various due diligence processes (tax, financial, legal), investor/client meetings, etc.
- Handle deal documentation and closure processes.
- Conduct industry/sector research for deal sourcing and help finalize M&A/VC/PE mandates.
- Prepare and update marketing materials for clients, media, and conferences
- Maintain internal MIS/databases.
How to Apply

The cover letter should demonstrate your keenness to the business/finance/investment field, why you want to make a career in this field, and what has been done to date to demonstrate your keenness. It would be great if you can highlight why you want to work specifically at Dexter.
- The candidate(s) must apply to the correct program based on their education qualification and work experience. If the candidate is not clear about which program to select, please clarify it first with the Dexter team. The shortlisted candidates will be contacted to appear for a basic assessment test. The test would be online and adaptive with a focus on financial knowledge (up to CFA L1 level), quantitative concepts, economics, and critical reasoning.
- On clearing the test, the selected candidates would need to go through a rigorous interview process with a minimum of 2 rounds which can last up to 4 rounds before final selection can be made.
- If the candidate does not get shortlisted, they may either re-apply in 3 months after improving their skillset or opt for a lower program.
- The selected candidate would be on a contract basis while undergoing training and would convert into a full-time employee post-successful completion of the program.
- The candidate is expected to work out of any of the Company’s offices located in Bangalore, Delhi & Mumbai, with a strong preference to work from the city in which the supervisor allotted to the candidate is located.
- The Candidate will be required to enroll in any of the approved online courses from these institutes: LMS ProSchool or Finnacle Shah Academy – Fin Plus Program. Candidates may recommend other institutions, and based on due diligence, reference checks/feedback, these institutions may be added to the approved list.
- The expenses for undergoing the training and taking up online courses shall be borne by the candidate and reimbursed upon successful completion of the program. Expenses will be reimbursed once the candidate completes 2 years of continuous employment with Dexter from the date of enrollment in the said program.
- While undergoing the study course, the candidate would be expected to work with the Dexter team and devote full professional time to complete the expected job responsibilities.
- The duration of the junior fellowship program (including the study course) will be 12 months. The 1st 6 months will be for junior fellowship and the next 6 months will be for the senior fellowship program.
- Post successful completion of the academic program and based on the supervisor’s evaluation, the Junior Fellowship Program may convert into a Senior Fellowship program. Upon completion of the Senior Fellowship Program and upon evaluation, a full-time offer of employment for the role of Investment Banking Analyst may be extended to the candidate.
- If the candidate does not complete the academic program or their performance does not meet expectations, the program duration may be extended by 3 to 6 months to overcome deficiencies. If the candidate does not improve, a full-time offer will not be extended.
- The program can be terminated at any point due to indiscipline, lack of sincerity towards work, or other extraordinary circumstances.
- Candidates are encouraged to enroll in the CFA program. Examination fees for the same will initially be borne by the candidate and will be reimbursed upon successfully scoring a 'pass' grade in the CFA exam and completing 12 months of full-time employment with Dexter.
- Company does not provide any relocation expenses.
- The candidate will not have access to the Company’s insurance/health care benefits while pursuing the program. However, standard healthcare/insurance benefits applicable to other team members will be available once they convert to full-time employment.
- Note: Any candidate joining the program is required to have their own laptop for work. The company will not be providing laptops.
