Dexter Senior Fellowship Program

Eligibility

  • CA qualified with all levels in 1st attempt with CFA L2; OR
  • Graduates from Tier 1 undergrad institutions (IITs, BITs Pilani, DCE, SRCC, SSCBS, St.Stephens, LSR, NMIMS, Christ, St. Xaviers – Kolkata and equivalent) having qualified with CFA L2 and having 12 months+ of experience (6 to 12 months may be considered if candidate is exceptional) working with a Front end IB/ Back or Middle Office roles in a bulge bracket investment banking firms supporting their front end IB team/ Commercial/Business Due Diligence with a big 4 or a top tier consulting firm/ Credit Rating Agency/Investment banking KPO or Equity Research role; OR
  • Graduate or Post-graduates from any college/university with more than 12 months of experience working with a Front end IB/ Back or Middle Office roles in a bulge bracket investment banking firms supporting their front end IB team/ Commercial/Business Due Diligence with a big 4 or a top tier consulting firm/ Credit Rating Agency/Investment banking KPO or Equity Research role

Program Duration

6 months of fellowship (including a study course, if required).

Compensation

₹65,000 per month during the fellowship.

Intake

2 candidates per quarter.

What You Can Expect

  • Front-end role – Direct interaction with startup founders from Day 1.
  • Understanding of the full deal cycle – right from the first call with the founder to the time money is in the bank.
  • Understand Dexter’s thesis unique lens of start-up evaluation.

What You Will Work On

  • Interaction with start-up founders from day 1 in evaluation of potential deals
  • Assisting the deal lead in entire deal execution including being part of Dexter-Investor calls Company-Investor calls
  • Collateral preparation including financial model, IM, Teasers, competition benchmarking, valuation comps, etc.
  • Coordination of various due diligence processes (tax, financial, legal, etc.), investor/client calls meetings, etc.
  • Deal documentation closure processes
  • Industry/sector research for deal sourcing assist in finalizing M&A/VC/PE mandates
  • Preparation and updation of marketing materials for clients, media, conferences, etc.
  • Updating internal MIS/databasesUpdating internal MIS/databases

How to Apply

  • Interested candidates may apply with their resume and a cover letter at careers@dextercapital.in for the Senior Fellowship programme(hereinafter referred to as the academic program/ program). The cover letter should demonstrate your keenness to the business/finance/investment field, why you want to make a career in this field, and what has been done to date (apart from standard academic and professional work) to demonstrate your keenness. It would be great if you can highlight why you want to work specifically at Dexter (please feel free to reach out to any of Dexter’s past or current team members).
  • To keep it efficient for both sides, the candidate(s) must apply to the correct program based on their education qualification and work experience. Please avoid applying to the wrong program, in case the candidate is not clear about which program to select, please clarify it first with the Dexter team by sending an email to careers@dextercapital.in as we would be happy to assist you in applying to the right program. The shortlisted candidates will be contacted to appear for a basic assessment test (hereinafter referred to as test). The test would be online and adaptive with a focus on financial knowledge (upto CFA L2 level), quantitative concepts, economics, and critical reasoning. The test would have a moderate difficulty level and would be time-bound so the candidate(s) may brush up on their knowledge and may give some mock tests before appearing for the actual test. A percentile method with an overall cut-off and a minimum sectional cut-off score would be used to shortlist candidates.
  • On clearing the test, the selected candidates thereafter would need to go through a rigorous interview process with a minimum of 2 rounds which can last up to 4 rounds before final selection can be made.
  • If the candidate does not get shortlisted, he/she may either re-apply in 3 months after improving his/her skillset or may opt for a lower program than the program initially applied for.
  • The selected candidate would be on a contract basis while undergoing training and would convert into a full-time employee post-successful completion of the program.
  • The candidate is expected to work out of any of the Company’s offices located in Bangalore, Delhi & Mumbai, with a strong preference to work from the city in which the supervisor allotted to the candidate is located.
  • The Candidate will be required to enroll in any of the approved online courses from these institutes TWSS FMVA, Corporate Finance Institute – FMVA or Finnacle Shah Academy – Financial Modeling course supplemented with basic Valuation course (Aswath Damodaran/Udemy). The candidate may recommend any other institutions and based on due diligence, reference checks/feedback from students of these institutions we can add these institutions to the approved list of institutions.
  • The expenses including fees for undergoing the training and taking up online courses shall be required to be borne by the candidate and the same will be reimbursable on successful completion of the academic program. i.e when the candidate has not only completed the program for training purposes but also score a “pass” grade from such a program. Subject to successful completion of the academic program as defined above, the expenses/fees incurred for undergoing the above training program will be reimbursed once the candidate completes the 2 years of continuous employment with Dexter from the date of initial enrolment in the said academic program.
  • While undergoing the study course, in parallel, the candidate would be expected to work with the Dexter team and devote full professional time to complete the expected job responsibilities.
  • The duration of the fellowship (including the study course) will be 6 months.
  • Post successful completion of the academic program and based on the supervisor’s evaluation (2 evaluations every two months and a final evaluation at the end of the program), a full-time offer of employment for the role of Analyst may be extended to the candidate.
  • In the event, the candidate has not completed the academic program or the candidate’s performance has not been at the desired level, and a full-time offer is not extended, the program duration may be extended by 3 to 6 months in which the candidate would be required to overcome the deficiencies as pointed out in evaluation and convert this into a full-time position, failing which a full-time offer shall not be extended.
  • The program can be terminated at any point in time in the event of indiscipline; lack of sincerity towards work or other extraordinary circumstances.
  • Candidates are also encouraged to enroll for CFA Level -1/2/3 examination fee for the same will be initially borne by you and would be reimbursed upon (a) you successfully scoring a “pass” grade in the said CFA exam and (b) completion of 12 months from becoming a full-time employee or CFA results whichever is later.
  • Company does not provide any relocation expenses.
  • The candidate while pursuing the program would not have access to Company’s insurance/health care benefits. However, once the candidate converts into full-time employment then standard healthcare/insurance benefits which are applicable to all other team members would be available.
  • Note : Please note that any candidate joining one of our programs is required to have his/her own laptop for work. The company will not be providing laptops
